Options

At Gateacre School, we recognise the importance of supporting students as they make their Key Stage 4 option choices in Year 9. These decisions will shape the subjects they study over the next two years and play an important role in preparing them for their future pathways.

We encourage all students and parents/carers to read the Year 9 Options Booklet below before making any decisions. The booklet contains important information about the options process and details of the subjects available to study.

Our options process is designed to provide clear information, advice and guidance to both students and parents/carers so that informed decisions can be made.

Students are encouraged to discuss their choices carefully with their family, taking into account:

  • Their current progress and attainment
  • Their interests and strengths
  • Possible future career pathways
  • Guidance from their teachers and other school staff

If students would like further advice or support when making their decisions, they should speak with their subject teachers, form tutor or pastoral team.

Once students have considered their options, they should submit their choices by the 12th of March 2026 via the online system at the link below.
